I guess, it's hard to imagine Lublin without night life. Actually I'm not a "party animal" but during Erasmus you must experience everything. Of course, in this field we get help from our "guardian angels" and their friends, because local people know it the best. What surprised me? That the best day for clubbing in Poland is Wednesday (!!!) while in my country people go in clubs Thursday or Friday... So, even I don't like clubbing, I tried. Just to be sure that I know how it works in Lublin.
We all need food. I know that. But sometimes it's so hard to make it. I an the German girl (Claudia) were very lazy in the field of cooking. Well, we had to. So, sometimes we just boiled spaghetti and put some sauce on it. That's all. Awesome, fast and delicious food!
In this picture you can see my awesome kitchen I decided to live in a private dormitory. Just to be sure that I will be safe, have my own room and be not so far from the university. The dormitory was quite nice, I lived with 4 other girls, we all had our own room, there was one kitchen and two bathrooms. What was a little bit different then I expected? Well, I didn't know anything about Spanish culture, so when the administrator of dormitory asked me:"Are sure about living with 3 Spanish girls and 1 German?" I was like:"Why not?" The German girl was really nice and she studied the same as I did and in the same university... But other 3 Spanish girls were different. They loved to have parties all the time, to have many people around them, eat a lot and don't think about cleaning at all. At the beginning of our time in dormitory we created something like a schedule for cleaning. Each day one of us had to clean common parts of our dormitory. But it worked only for a few weeks. Later there was mess everywhere. Even I gave up... Well, let's think like Spanish and stop carrying about something. Photos below show how we lived at the beginning of the Erasmus. And at the end... Better leave it in secret. Public spaces My area
In order to make us feel better and get in touch with city, we had an introduction week organized by KUL. We visited all main objects in Lublin with a nice guide who told many interesting stories. Also we visite Zamosc and a very crazy master of metal works (I don't remember in which town we met him). I guess the little workshop with the master of the metal works was the best. He demonstrated for us how to make a shoes for horse. And talked a lot, even my Polish language level isn't that high, I could understand his dirty jokes :D View from the towerLet's take a look!Coourful ZamoscHorse's shoes will let you always be succsesfulStrong and Charming Master of metal workWhen I came to Lublin, weather was cold and rainy. I felt so weird and lonely. I didn't know where to go and what to do.
My guardian angel Anna made a little tour for me. So I saw the old town, main streets and KUL-my university. When I realized that I have ability to go for Erasmus, I already knew that I'm going to choose Poland! So, I checked the list with universities and Lublin seemed the best option for me. Well I had to fill in thousands of papers... It was sometimes hard and annoying but I knew that I must to make it. Step by step I was closer to my goal. I remember the day when I get the letter from Erasmus coordinator of KUL. The letter sayed: "Your participation is accepted." I was more than happy. So, I packed my stuff, said 'goodbye' for all friends and traveled to Lublin... Your participation is accepted. |
